The biggest obstacle to building a business today is the fact that no matter how “great” or “original” your idea is, there will always be competition from at least five other businesses doing the same thing. Your biggest asset in 2019 is your ability to stand out and make an impression on your customers. A good logo will do a lot of the heavy lifting for you, catching the eye of potential customers while separating your business apart from the rest of your competition. All you need is one good first impression, and if your audience can’t get a sense of who you are from your logo (or even worse, can’t remember who you are because of your logo) you will have a much more difficult time getting attention. With just the right design, a logo can say everything it needs to say about your mission statement.
Visual memories last longer
Consider the logos of some of your favorite brands. They are pretty easy to remember, right? This happens because our brains are hardwired to hold on to visual images. Ideally, your logo will be a distinct identification of who you are and what you do. If your logo is aesthetically pleasing, it could reflect the excellent service you provide your customers. But if your logo isn’t super pleasing to the eye, it will more than likely be forgotten.

In addition to the overall design, it’s important to consider what your color scheme is going to be. The color of your logo will begin to extend into other areas of your brand identity. Your brand’s visual narrative will be a natural extension of the colors you choose for your logo. This will decide what colors you use for signage, social media, graphics for videos, the website, printed letterheads, business cards and any piece with an element of design on it.

A good logo will come to define your brand. As your business and reputation grow, people will begin to recognize your logo. It’s important to get your logo right as early as possible because your faithful customers will begin to notice if you make changes along the way. You need to set your brand up as consistent and trustworthy to gain the trust of your audience. You might have an opportunity to make some changes down the road, but you should plan on keeping your brand familiar for your current audience.
