Then, the iphone changed everything. Waiting for a meeting, walking to work, exercising, waiting for a movie to start – you name it, I am on facebook, twitter, linked in, you tube and my blog. There is never an idle moment.
Since discovering audio books, I am even using my phone instead of listening to the radio or music when I am in the car or going for a walk.
The world has changed and how we absorb information and communication is polar opposite to even a few years ago.
There lies the problem.
For marketers and small business owners who are trying to engage their audience, it is imperative that they are more creative in their approach and that their commitment to social media is long-term. It is my no means a fad and Facebook’s recent valuation of $56 billion is apt given its position in this space and the reliance of all stakeholders on their platform.
The Facebook page above is the latest version of my current social media activities. All by mobile, I uploaded a new Facebook picture with my dog for my profile, uploading Xmas snaps, received other people’s Xmas snaps, accepted invitations to New Year’s and January parties and events and ‘liked’ my clients and friends pages, snaps and videos.
Video sharing and watching mobile phones is becoming ubiquitous and it is having dramatic implications for marketers, content managers and targeting clients.
What percentage of social media emphasis is being placed in your Marketing Strategy for 2011?
