Marketing Consultant Shares Insights blog

I still can't believe that we are halfway through 2017 already. Being in sales, I understand August can be a slower month. But I’m a glass half full kind of guy. So I think this month should be used to catch up on some things you’ve been pushing off for the last half of the year. Living in Atlanta definitely has its perks. But, one thing everyone is familiar with is the traffic. So instead of watching the guy in front of me pick his nose all the way from Peachtree to Lenox, I’m going to be learning about history, business, and geeking out on the best podcasts that are out now.
14 Must See Podcasts

Between the surge of new mini-update shows, how to stations, and storytelling radio, it’s no wonder why people are always missing out on the best podcasts (in my humble opinion). So when you open up my iTunes, these are some of the shows that are my absolute favorites:

1.       Tim Ferriss Show:

This show is generally the #1 business podcast on all of iTunes, and it’s been ranked #1 out of 300,000 podcasts on many occasions.  It is the first business/interview podcast to pass 100,000,000 downloads, and it has been selected as “Best of” iTunes for three years running (In 2016 under “most downloaded”). If you’ve ever read his books, “4 hour work week” or “Tools of Titans”, you know that he only provides you with the best of the best when it comes to tools, tactics, and routines of billionaires, business moguls, and icons alike.

2.     Joe Rogan Experience:

This podcast is not just business, it’s a lot more than that. But you can skip to the shows where he will have your favorite entrepreneurs on for some beer. To sum up this show, he basically just talks to interesting people. It’s really really good! Trust me! The Joe Rogan Experience podcast is a long form conversation hosted by comedian, UFC color commentator, and actor Joe Rogan with friends and guests that have included comedians, actors, musicians, MMA instructors and commentators, authors, artists, and porn stars. The Joe Rogan Experience was voted the Best Comedy Podcast of 2012 on iTunes.

3.       Hardcore History:

Okay, okay! This isn’t a business podcast, but it’s still on my list. I’ve found that history is a great place to pull stories from. And all selling is storytelling. So listen to the greatest story teller on the planet. He’s been called a lot of things, but no one says that Dan Carlin is boring. His two long-running podcasts are among the most popular in the world. Part storyteller, part analyst, Carlin has mastered the art of looking at subjects from multiple angles and dissecting and thinking about them in original ways. He isn’t afraid to go deep or to inject historical context into modern debates. Whether it’s history or current events he’s discussing, his passion is contagious, his approach refreshing and his ideas tickle your brain in all the right places. He’ll make you mad too. You’ll like it.

4.       Gary Vee Audio Experience:

On this podcast, you’ll hear a mix of my best #AskGaryVee Show episodes, keynote speeches on marketing and business, highlights from my DAILYVEE video series, interviews and fireside chats, and any of his new and current thoughts on life, business, and marketing. Gary Vee has been a distant mentor in my life and has shaped some of my philosophies that I believe to be eternal in business and entrepreneurship. He started his career building the largest online wine store using YouTube and Twitter and has since then built a multi-million-dollar marketing agency in New York City. His thoughts may prove very valuable to you and your career… give it a try!

5.       Cardone Zone:

Grant Cardone, if you don’t know him, is the 10X guy. He has written many books, built a couple multi-million-dollar companies, and has a long career of speaking and motivating young entrepreneurs and salespeople. He’s definitely your type A personality and might make you feel uncomfortable at times with some of his philosophies, but that’s a good thing. Take time every day to listen in and you may find your sales begin to increase little by little.

6.       This Week in Startups:

Jason Calacanis and a rotating group of guest experts bring you this weekly take on the best, worst, most outrageous and interesting stories from the world of entrepreneurship. 7.       The 20 Minute VC:

Whether you've just started a website or you manage millions of pageviews, Neil & Eric will help you take it to the next level.

9.     School of Greatness: Before Lewis Howes became a media sensation for empowering people and sharing 'Greatness' across the globe, he had his share of obstacles to overcome. From having a learning disability, which led to being alone and bullied in school, to being sexually abused as a child, to being injured and broke on his sister’s couch, Lewis’s story is the perfect example of how anybody can overcome the obstacles in their life and achieve greatness. Fast forward a few short years, and Lewis is a New York Times Bestselling author of the hit book, The School of Greatness. He is a lifestyle entrepreneur, high performance business coach and keynote speaker. A former professional football player and two-sport All-American, he is a current USA Men’s National Handball Team athlete.

10.   Smart Passive Income Podcast: SPI is a resource run by Pat Flynn, to teach you proven strategies for running an online business and optimizing it for passive income—but what is passive income? Passive income is money, made by your business, that does not require a lot of ongoing, manual effort from you.

11.   Entrepreneurs On Fire:

Entrepreneurs On FIRE was created for you. Their guests share lessons from their worst Entrepreneurial moments, AH-HA moments, and what has them most FIRED UP today! It was awarded Best Of iTunes and I’ve published over 1700 interviews with Tony Robbins, Seth Godin, Gary Vaynerchuk, Barbara Corcoran, Tim Ferriss and thousands more.

12.   Freakonomics:

Host Stephen J. Dubner has surprising conversations that explore the riddles of everyday life and the weird wrinkles of human nature — from cheating and crime to parenting and sports. Dubner talks with Nobel laureates and provocateurs, social scientists and entrepreneurs.

13.   Jocko Podcast:

Jocko is a decorated retired Navy SEAL officer, author of the book Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win, and co-founder of Echelon Front, where he is a leadership instructor, speaker, and executive coach. Jocko spent 20 years in the U.S. Navy SEAL Teams, starting as an enlisted SEAL and rising through the ranks to become a SEAL officer. As commander of SEAL Team Three’s Task Unit Bruiser during the battle of Ramadi, he orchestrated SEAL operations that helped the “Ready First” Brigade of the US Army’s First Armored Division bring stability to the violent, war-torn city.Task Unit Bruiser became the most highly decorated Special Operations Unit of the Iraq War. Jocko returned from Iraq to serve as Officer-in-Charge of training for all West Coast SEAL Teams. There, he spearheaded the development of leadership training and personally instructed and mentored the next generation of SEAL leaders who have continued to perform with great success on the battlefield. This is one of my favorite shows because I can relate to it as a soldier myself. But, everyone can pull different leadership lessons after listeing to his show for a few minutes on your car ride to work.
