In business, it’s no different.
If you like, business people are elite athletes who are practising their game, losing some / winning some, or maybe in fact the celebrated champions of their sport. Everyone fits somewhere in the equation. Their performance is largely a result of training, learning from what they do wrong, understanding their competitors, mental stamina, determination and raw talent.
At times, even when it seems like it is all too hard, small business owners need to make the hard decision and be faced with the cold hard facts of their business lifecyle and… step up to the mark.
Challenges occur daily in small business, yet it is how we deal with them that counts. Investing in marketing or a new website after you have just paid a couple of thousand for your old one that doesn’t bring in clients, barely resembles your brand and clearly is hidden behind the millions of others out there because no-one and I mean no-one can find it - is a challenge.
January is a month to rethink what you are doing, capitalise on what you are doing right and fix or improve what you are doing wrong.
Working out where you are at with your business and finding ways in which to get to the next level is one of the most difficult strategic decisions you can make. It’s seeing your business as it is, not just how you would like it to be. Without having a true indication of where you are benchmarked compared to competitors or in comparison to where you would like to be – may hinder your ability to go to the next level.
Step up, be counted and conquer the world or as James Cameron said when Titanic won an Oscar, be “King of the World” in your industry.
